When will my seedlings show?

Hi

I planted some Chilli Willy seeds on the 9th Feb in a jiffy plug and placed in a heated prop on my conservatory wondow sill along with several other varieties. The others all seem to have sprouted to aprox 2 inches except the chilly willies? Do they take longer to germinate or have they just not taken???

Cheers
Phill

Proper Conditions for Germinating Chilli Willy Seeds

Hi Phil,

First off, we would like to welcome you to the Chilli Willy forum!

Chilli Willy seeds do require a bit of extra time to germinate, and under the right conditions, which it looks like you have with the heated propagator to germinate your chilli seeds, they should take about 2 weeks, but sometimes longer.

The main 2 things to keep constant are temperature and moisture (make sure the soil is moist but not damp and use you finger to test this) as most of the time lack of germination is due to overwatering and underheating combined causing longer than normal germination times and because the seeds are sitting there ungerminated, they may become rotten.

Ideally the proper temperature range for germinating chillies is between 27-32 degrees C, producing the best germination success rate - taking on average 7-10 days with a high percentage germinationation.

We would advise that you wait a bit longer as they can take this extra time, but if they do not germinate soon, please let us know and we can send you a replacement sachet.

Let us know how you get on and if you have any more questions, please email back!

Best Regards,
Chilli Willy Team.

Well i agree with you and it depends upon weather and temperature. Because atmosphere plays an important role in growing seed and i think it is clearly mentioned above. And proper temperature time is 27 to 32 degree and you may grow your seed in time if you just act upon it.
